Brazil, Italy and Cuba join Serbia in semifinals Rome, Italy, October 6, 2010 – Defending champions Brazil wil play Italy while 198 bronze medalists Cuba wil take on Serbia in two fascinating FIVB Men's World Championship Italy 2010 semifinals positions 1-4 which wil be held at the Palalotomatica in Rome on Saturday folowing the griping drama of the final day of third-round action on Wednesday. Cuba came from behind against Bulgaria to snatch a sensational 3-2 2-25, 25-23, 26-28, 30-28, 15-1 win in Florence and at the same time in Rome, Italy did what they had to do against France – that is, win 3-1 25-18, 25-20, 25-27, 25-19 , albeit their victory was not without its drama as the 209 European Championship runers-up did not go down easily. Two of the most sucesful sides in the history of the World Championship wil met in the second semi in Rome – world No1 Brazil have won two titles and a silver medal while fifth-ranked Italy are thre-time champions from 190-198 and picked up second place in 1978.
