There are two main categories of birthmarks. Red birthmarks are made up of blood vessels close to the skin surface, and are called vascular birthmarks. Strawberry hemangiomas (strawberry mark, nevus vascularis, capillary hemangioma, hemangioma simplex) may develop several weeks after birth.
